The 45-year-old said on her blog recently that she was meeting with the "Price" people this week and that she "sure would" accept the job if they offer.

"I LOVE THE PRICE IS RIGHT," she wrote, the capitalization underscoring her feelings.

Showcase: Denise wins ($140,235 in prizes); “Waiting Room” Showcase, Barbecue Grill, Mediterranean Cruise, and Lincoln Convertible

Viewers were treated to an unusual camera angle of the studio audience at the beginning of today’s show. After making his final entrance through the Big Doors, Bob was showered by confetti from the audience. Speaking of Bob’s entrance, his very first entrance was displayed on the TV Set that was the first Item Up for Bids today. Denise, who was born 9 days after the very first show, was surprised to learn that the Lucky 7 prize is a Chevy Corvette. She could only miss the last number in the price by one dollar, but Denise made it through by saying “6”. Viewers in my area were unfortunate to lose the show’s audio during the appearance of the second Item Up for Bids due to the station’s weekly Emergency Alert System test (which frequently occurs during the show). We are lucky to have the 7 o’clock re-airing of the show. Bob asked the audience how many hours until Range Game can be restarted again. They all responded “37 hours” of course. Denise is $1000 richer thanks to the Big Wheel in Showcase Showdown #1, but a greater reward awaits her in the Showcase. Dean reminded Bob that Canadians still love him after all these years. Dean had the honor of pushing the Double Prices button for luck and was surprised that he made the right decision. Melva was clearly excited to meet Bob on his final show, as she was still shaking while playing the Grocery Game (with the return of the game’s sign). She was right to choose one Sleep Aid, but two of the Dial products put her total over $21.00. Philip, who waited outside Television City 5 days prior to today’s show, finally made it out of Contestant’s Row at the last possible moment. As the first game played on the first show to air, Any Number was played last under Bob’s watch. Philip became $7.31 richer with a piggy bank’s worth of money, which is not too bad. Today’s Showcase featured saints, a dentist’s waiting room, and two automobiles. Both bids were relatively close for such expensive Showcases, but top winner Denise leaves today’s show with prizes worth $140,235. The number was too big to be displayed on her Showcase podium. Bob signed off thanking viewers for allowing him to be with us for over 50 years and reminded us to help control the pet population. We end today’s show with Denise’s celebration and one last shot of Bob after receiving a hug from our announcer Rich. Good day and good luck!

Just a reminder that Bob Barker's final episode as host will air today at TPiR's regularly scheduled time, as well as a special primetime edition at 8/7 Central.

Triple Play: Carleen lost; Chevy Aveo ($14,021), Jeep Wrangler ($21,980), and Ford Mustang Convertible

Clock Game: Craig wins (12 seconds left); Portable Spa ($899) and Sofa ($963) (+$1000)

Grand Game: Shirley wins $10,000 (Target Price $6.00)

Showcase Showdown #1: Craig wins with 85 cents

Eazy Az 1, 2, 3: Mai lost; Picnic Baskets, Dining Room Table, and Luggage

Money Game: Roseann wins; Dodge Magnum ($24,275)

Coming or Going: Dominic wins by “Going”; Grand Piano ($7895)

Showcase Showdown #2: Rose Ann wins with $1.00 ($1000)

Showcase: Rose Ann wins ($98,484 in prizes); “Every Room of the House” Showcase, Trips to Florida, Brazil, Germany, China, and Lincoln Town Car

Carleen, proud owner of a $2800 Pool Table, had a good chance of winning Triple Play today. She unfortunately thought the price of the last automobile, a Ford Mustang Convertible, was priced somewhere above $28,000. She had plenty of time to change her time, especially when Bob asked what she would do with the automobiles (she wanted the Mustang for herself), but she never changed her decision. Craig has seen Clock Game and he played it like a professional. Starting at a price such as $1000 on the Portable Spa was part of his strategy. Shirley knew the products priced below $6.00 in Grand Game and left today’s show $10,000 richer. Like Carleen, Shirley didn’t change her mind any anything during Bob’s teasing. Mai was not the only one surprised about the Luggage price in Eazy Az 1, 2, 3. Rose Ann won Money Game without ever seeing a dollar sign. As a songwriter, Dominic needed the Grand Piano he won in Coming or Going. Rose Ann was the last one to step up to the Big Wheel in Showcase Showdown #2 and got herself 25 cents and 75 cents in her first two spins. Today’s Showcase featured “The Priceless Book of World Records”, prizes for “every room of the house”, and a Lincoln automobile. We end today’s show with Rose Ann celebrating her amazing win after two expensive Showcases.

TPiR and your financial decisions!

Wednesday, June 13

Charles Jaffe of the Baltimore Sun has written a couple articles in the last two weeks paying homage to Bob Barker and The Price is Right. The twist? He adapts eight pricing games to your personal money-management challenges. What do some of the games tell us about investing? Here's a teaser:

Take Two: The Price is Right contestant is given a dollar figure and must choose two of the four items where prices total the target amount in order to win all of the prizes.

In fund investing, the dollar target is the amount needed to be "set for life," to achieve lifetime financial security. The key is picking mutual funds -- a few from the thousands of available choices -- that the investor believes can turn current and future savings into that jackpot.

Easy as 1-2-3: One of the simplest Price is Right games, the contestant must put three prizes in order of increasing value to win. In mutual funds, it's an asset allocation game, one where the investor prioritizes their holdings to meet their risk tolerances and goals. Confronted with a simple portfolio decision - how much to put into domestic stocks, foreign stocks and bonds, for example - the investor must decide how much risk to take and how to build their portfolio so that they can sleep at night while still generating sufficient return to reach the goals.

Kevin D. Thompson of the Palm Beach Post offers his top ten reasons why America loves TPiR.

One of the ten...

The crazy contestants: They come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They sport wild T-shirts that say things like "Bobalicious" or "Got Bob?" They go absolutely bonkers when they're called down to contestants row, and it's as if they hit the lottery. In a sense, they have. They're on TV and are about to get their 15 minutes of fame. (The chances of getting on stage are roughly 1 in 36.) One memorable contestant even fell out of her top while happily bouncing down the aisle to meet Barker.

Read on if you want to see the other nine!

Check Game: Tezza lost (Check for $2126); 66-inch High Definition TV ($3998)

It’s In the Bag: Erin lost $4000

More or Less: Kristen lost; Trips to Nashville, Tennessee (Less than $5100), Hawaii (Less than $7150), Portugal, and Ford Fusion.

Showcase Showdown #1: Kristen wins with $1.00 ($1000)

Freeze Frame: James lost; Pair of Motorcycles ($5198)

One Away: Tyler wins; Dodge Caravan ($21,534)

Barker’s Bargain Bar: Millicent wins; Desktop Computer (Bargain of $1000) and Daybed

Showcase Showdown #2: James wins with 80 cents

Showcase: James wins ($20,383 in prizes); Living Room Group, Maid Service, and Snowmobile

Tezza may know how to play Check Game, but her description of the game would confuse anyone new to the game. Erin decided to go against members of the studio audience waving their arms to stop her and go for $8000. Unfortunately, she won’t even have $4000 to pay off student loans. I have a feeling that Kristen did not want any of the trips in More or Less, which may explain why she choose to say the Trip to Hawaii was priced more than $7150. Kristen’s $1000 win in Showcase Showdown #1 lifted the spirits of viewers after today’s first half of the show. James probably thought he was to freeze the price of a single motorcycle in Freeze Frame. Tyler heard a car horn five times in One Away, meaning that he had the right price of the Dodge automobile from the start. Millicent was not sure about the Desktop Computer in Barker’s Bargain Bar, so she consulted with the audience. Her reaction after winning both prizes was slow and easy. Today’s Showcase featured a Snowmobile, “The First Bank of Price”, and a Chevy 500. We end today’s show with James and his crew in front of the new Living Room Group.

Pushover: Julie wins; Trip to Austria ($6935)

Hole in One (or Two): Sean wins (Line 4); Ford Explorer

Cliffhangers: Laura wins (25 steps); Hovercraft

Showcase Showdown #1: Julie wins with 95 cents

Bonkers: Nichole lost; Brass Bed ($4037)

Switch?: John wins with a “switch”; Floor Clock and Home Gym

Cover Up: Anna wins; Chevy Impala ($21,495)

Showcase Showdown #2: John wins with 95 cents

Showcase: John wins ($27,145 in prizes); Range, Dining Room Group, and Piano

Bob made his entrance through the Big Doors today and may continue it to the very end on Friday. Julie’s Austrian holiday will be her first stay in continental Europe, but not her stay in any European country. Ireland was her first place of interest in Europe. Sean learned how to putt with the help of his papa, who “tried” to teach him the game. Sean completed Hole in One in two putts, but unfortunately for Bob his final inspiration putt gave him a reason to hate this game. In Cliffhangers, Laura missed the prices of the three items by a total of $25, also the maximum number of steps for the mountain climber. In the end of her game of Bonkers, Nichole had 3 of the 4 disks where they should be. John, who shares the same name as the host of the TV program “America’s Most Wanted”, will be returning home to show his co-workers a Floor Clock and Home Gym equipment. Anna completed Cover Up without a single mistake. Today’s Showcase featured “Clara Cleanup”, a Travel Trailer, and a Piano. John was excited about his small Showcase difference before and after Bob corrected himself with the actual retail price. We end today’s show with John and his crew celebrating around his new Dining Room Group.

Golden Road: Daniel lost; Can of Mushrooms (81 cents), Flatware ($895), Bumper Pool Table ($2895), and Travel Trailer (+$100,000)

Punch A Bunch: Samira wins $10,000 with 4 punches

Most Expensive: George lost; 46-inch Plasma TV, Dining Room Table (Most Expensive), and Treadmill

Showcase Showdown #1: George wins with $1.00 ($1000)

Squeeze Play: Ashley wins (removed “0"); Spa ($4495)

Dice Game: Amy lost; Chevy Cavalier ($14,234)

Hi Lo: Daniel lost; Pair of Motorscooters

Showcase Showdown #2: Amy wins with 65 cents

Showcase: Amy wins ($51,154 in prizes); Double Showcase Winner, Sleepwear, Bedroom Group, Waverunner; Elvis Presley CDs, Home Entertainment System, Trip to London, England, and Ford Mustang

Bob made his entrance through the audience today, an early indication of the significance of this week’s shows. Daniel, though unfamiliar with the Golden Road, had a chance at becoming the biggest winner in the game’s history, as the Travel Trailer was priced more than $100,000. Unfortunately, Daniel’s game ended at his second stop, a Bumper Pool Table. Samira punched three holes in the top row of the Punchboard, making it easy for our host to remove the slips, including one with $10,000. George lost by choosing the Plasma TV Set over the Dining Room Table, a wooden one to be exact. After getting 60 cents in his first spin of the Big Wheel, George added 40 cents to total $1.00. The second “4” in Squeeze Play did not fool Ashley. Amy’s second roll in Dice Game turned out to be “3”. She believed the third digit in the price of the Chevrolet automobile was higher. This was her only mistake, but greater things are near. Audience disapproval did not stop Daniel from choosing Zip Lock bags for the “Hi” row in Hi Lo. Today’s Showcase featured an icon (Elvis Presley), a legend (King Arthur), and the world’s greatest master of ceremonies (our host, Bob). The Showcase bids were very close, but only Amy's difference was less than $250. We end today’s show in a Double Showcase celebration.

New look!

Saturday, June 9

TPiR Blog v2.0 is here! Sort of...

For the past couple years, we get e-mails now and then about how people found that their browsers did not deal "nicely" with the old layout, which utilized a frame setup.

So I've spent the better part of today wrestling with this new template, trying to bring it up to code. I think I have most of the major kinks worked out, at least to the point where it's readable! It's the first design I've built from scratch while utilizing PHP scripting and functions-- makes my life easier in the long run, but leads to a complicated first few nights!

Over the next couple of days and weeks, I'm going to fine-tune it to get it into a 100% working state. Until then, bear with us! And if you see a page that's horribly awry-- drop us a line and I'll see what I can do!

Thanks for reading! Remember to tune in for Bob's last episode on Friday, June 15th!

CBS announced on Wednesday that Barker's 35-year tenure on "The Price Is Right" will conclude with an episode set for Friday, June 15.

Likely to tape at least a week before, Barker's final "Price" will show first in the game show's regular 11 a.m. daytime slot and will then get an encore showing that night in primetime, showing at 8 p.m. and leading directly into CBS' telecast of the 34th Annual Daytime Emmys, a ceremony that will see Barker up for two awards to add to an already hefty pile.

From The Charlotte Observer.

Please note, this will be his last new episode-- reruns will run through the summer until the start of Season 36 with a still unnamed host.
