Our journey into Year 36 begins the way Year 35 ended with a view of the show’s logo from a camera above the studio audience. Viewers, the studio audience, and today’s contestants were introduced to a new version of the show’s theme music, new curtains around the audience (and backstage), new seat covering for folks in Contestant’s Row, a new Turntable set, and new Big Doors. Our host Drew Carey made his first walk beyond Door #2, where the backdrop wall has been updated with new colors. Drew was handed a wireless microphone as he met the audience. There was no need for a monologue, as Drew was ready to introduce the first Item Up for Bids. When the Jeep Wrangler was revealed as today’s Money Game prize, Bernard rushed over to take a look inside the automobile. With the help of his wife in the audience, Bernard got the first two numbers in the price. He stumbled upon the number 18 for the last two numbers, but got up for 75 and the Jeep Wrangler was his. Drew learned that Peggy calls the mountain climber in Cliffhangers “the mountain man”. She priced the last two items correct, leaving the mountain climber safe at 5 steps. Aura did a cartwheel before playing It’s In the Bag. Aura took her time in the game, especially near the end, but Drew managed to pull all of us through and thus we had a $16,000 winner fall to the floor. A new piece of music was introduced before the closed captioning sponsor. Peggy became $1000 richer in Showcase Showdown #1, thus introducing viewers to a new “$1000” graphic. Thomas carried all three blocks in Eazy Az 1, 2, 3 and placed them in order from the most expensive prize to the least expensive prize. Drew asked Amor to ask the “mighty sound effects guy” if she had any numbers right. She had two numbers correct on the first try, but it took a while for her to change the last three numbers in the price of the Ford automobile. Gregory plays Barker’s Bargain Bar, “named after the founder of ‘The Price is Right’, Ezekiel Barker”, Drew joked. Today’s perfect show became even better with Amor’s win of $1000 in Showcase Showdown #2. Today’s Showcase featured a Waverunner, little known ‘Old Wives Tales’, and a Trailer. The High Definition TV Set featured Drew and a contestant at the Big Wheel. Drew reminded viewers to “keep the pet population under control” after Amor’s Showcase victory. The last change introduced today was our announcer Rich’s way of ending the show. No longer is the show called “a Mark Goodson television production”, but “a Fremantle Media production”, which is more accurate considering the sale of Goodson-Todman Productions many years ago. Good day and good luck!
