Recent Price is Right ratings...
Saturday, February 14
Recently, on G-R.net, user TVC provided recent ratings (February 9th telecast) for The Price is Right. These are the top twenty-five markets in the United States, and ratings are broken down by separate half-hour (e.g. 11:00-11:30 ET / 11:30-12:00 ET)
New York City - 1.2 / 1.4
Los Angeles - 1.9 / 2.3
Chicago - 2.5 / 3.3
Philadelphia - 2.6 / 3.4
Dallas-Fort Worth - 2.6 / 2.4
San Francisco - 1.3 / 1.9
Boston - 4.5 / 4.3
Atlanta - 1.6 / 1.5
Washington, D.C. - 0.7 / 1.1
Houston - 2.4 / 3.5
Detroit - 2.0 / 3.3
Phoenix - 2.0 / 1.9
Tampa-St. Petersburg - 1.7 / 2.3
Seattle-Tacoma - 2.1 / 2.5
Minneapolis-Saint Paul - 5.5 / 6.2
Miami-Fort Lauderdale - 2.3 / 3.0
Cleveland - 2.7 / 3.2
Denver - 2.6 / 2.4
Orlando-Daytona Beach - 3.3 / 3.6
Sacramento - 3.1 / 3.8
St. Louis - 2.2 / 3.3
Portland - 1.5 / 3.2
Pittsburgh - 4.2 / 6.1
Charlotte - 3.5 / 4.5
Indianapolis - 3.9 / 4.4
It should be of course noted that some markets may have had TPiR pre-empted for a local breaking news segment, press conference, etc., so it's difficult to look at such a small sample size (n = 1). I just thought it would be interesting to share some numbers. From the same thread;
Season 34 - Price Avg. 4
Season 35 - Price Avg. 4.45
Season 36 - Price Avg. 3.7
Given the above numbers for the previous three seasons, it appears that TPiR has dipped somewhat in the ratings this year. It needs to be stressed "your mileage may vary" with these numbers. In a digital age, with access to TPiR episodes online as well as satellite and digital cable offering viewers many more choices during any given time slot, it's getting tougher and tougher to compare viewers on year-to-year bases.
